Building Muscle - How to Build Up Your Biceps In a Short Period of Time

Building muscle is hard work but it also depends on the genetic structure of the body. Some people seem to build muscle in no time, while others need month after month to see any positive result. Biceps are perhaps the most widely used judging tool in people's hands to determine the progress of your work out. A few exercises are designed specifically for this muscle group and if we do these exercises systematically with concentration and dedication, you can surely have an eighteen-inch bicep within a very short period.
Building Muscle - How to Build Up Your Biceps In a Short Period of Time

To get strong and big biceps, you need to lift heavy weights at low repetitions, anything from 2 to 8, depending on the exercise. The most effective form of arm training and build big biceps is pre exhausted training. When you eventually move on to train the muscle of choice it will tire very quickly and you will increase your gains in a shorter period of time.
• USE STRAIGHT BAR: Use a straight weight bar with a light amount of weight on it and curl the bar to your chest. Hold the weight for about 1 second and then release the weight back down only half the speed that you brought it up. Take a 40 second break than repeat it 4 times.
• USE HORIZONTAL BAR: Grab a fixed horizontal bar with your palms facing you and leave 4-7 inches of space between them. Lift your self up until your chin is level or over the bar than bring your self down half the speed that you came up. Take a 40 second break and repeat this 4 times.
• USE DUMBBELL: Take a set of dumbbells with a decent amount of weight. Turn your hands so your thumbs are up. You bring the weights up just like you have done with the straight bar curls. Take a 40 second break and for 4 times!
Bicep curls using dumbbell can be performed, either with both arms simultaneously or with one arm at a time. Lock the elbows into the sides of the abdomen for weight support. Slowly lifts the weight from an extended-down arm position to almost reach the shoulder, then stop, and then slowly lower the weight.
Biceps are one of the smaller muscles in your body so don't over do them. Give them a lot of rest and that is how you build your biceps! The biceps should be worked out once every 4 to 5 days and no more.
USEFUL TIPS FOR BICEP WORKOUT
• Warm up by using a light set of dumbbells.
• Control the weight at all times.
• Perform all repetitions (reps) s to failure. This means performing the exercise until you cannot lift anymore weight.
• Do not arch your back or swing the weight up.
• Do not lock out your arms at the bottom of the curl.
In order to get big biceps, you need to eat a lots of protein (meat, eggs and fish) rich food. Protein is what makes up your muscles, and you need a lot of it for building muscle. Eat as much protein as you can; your body needs to have an excess of calories each day before you can start to build muscle. Make sure to have a protein drink or a good meal after your biceps workout. Enough rest and good food is necessary for building muscles.
Get plenty of sleep (9 hours would be good, but 8 is fine) and limit your cardiovascular workouts to 1-2 per week.

Best Bicep Workouts for Mass

Everybody wants defined muscles and huge bicep peaks but most people don't put in enough hard work to achieve their goal. They want ripped biceps but once it comes time to workout they don't work hard and end up quitting. Hard work is going to be the way you are going to gain bicep mass, not wishful thinking. If you are willing to commit yourself to work hard then I will give you a couple of the best bicep workouts for mass that anyone can use.
The key to a good bicep workout is how tired the workout gets you and how targeted the workout is. What I mean by how tired the workout gets you is how quickly your muscles fatigue during the workout. For example a chin up is going to get your muscle lot more tired faster than curling a 20 pound dumbbell.
Best Bicep Workouts for Mass
I am going to go over some of the best bicep workouts for mass and explain how to correctly do each one for the best result. Remember that you aren't going to see the results you want unless you work hard through every single workout.
Remember before doing any of these workouts that you warm up by jogging and stretching for 10-15 minutes. This will insure that your muscles are warmed up and will decrease the chance of injury.
Close Grip Chin Ups:
There are many bicep workouts for mass but one of the most effective and simplest is the good o'le chin up. Start by grabbing the pull up bar with your palms facing away from you and your feet shoulder width apart. Lift yourself up until your chin goes past the bar. Lower yourself all the way down slowly to get the most out of the workout and stop once you arms are fully extended. That will count as one repetition and you should do as many as you possibly can. These can be very difficult to do but like I said earlier the faster it makes your muscles tired the more muscle mass you will gain.
Concentration Curl:
Concentration curls are also one of the best bicep workouts for mass because it targets the bicep extremely well. There really isn't another bicep workout that targets it as good. To do a concentration curl you are going to want to use a dumbbell and sit down on a bench. Grab the dumbbell and place your elbow on the inside of your thigh. Slowly curl the dumbbell up and then lower it slowly back down. That is a simple concentration curl and it will defiantly add mass to your biceps.
Those three bicep workouts are arguably the best for adding mass to your biceps but there are plenty of other quality workouts. I'm not going to go into any detail with these next workouts but I would highly recommend you check these out.
  • Zottman Curl
  • Hammer Curl
  • Barbell Curl
  • Drag Curl
  • Spider Curl
If you can incorporate any one of those or more in to your workouts then you will begin to see great results. But you can do all of the workouts you want but without hard work you will just be wasting your time. Remember when you go to the gym it's all business and you are in there to get work done. If you can get into that mindset and use these workouts then I guarantee you will see added mass and tone to not only your biceps but also the rest of your upper body.

Build Big Huge Biceps and Big Huge Triceps - Best Arms Exercises

So, you want stronger more muscular arms so you are the desire of almost every lifter. Who wouldn't be happy with big, peaking biceps sitting on top of rock-hard, horse shoe-shaped tris?
Many people are focused on building muscle in the arms, though the majority of these people lack knowledge of the different ways to work their arms the right way, and this decreases their acquired muscle mass. What are the insights into an effectively stimulating arm growth? We must first recognize three basic truths:
Best Arms Exercises

1) Well triceps and biceps are small muscle groups.
2) Pulling movements of the back can help the biceps receive heavy stimulation.
3) Pressing movements for the chest & shoulders heavily stimulate the triceps.
When attempting to gain maximum improvement in biceps and triceps size and strength, a very small amount of direct stimulation is needed.
When working your chest and back, your biceps and triceps are receiving stimulation at the same time. As biceps and triceps are considered small muscle groups, direct arm training really is not very productive. So this exhaust them.
Your muscles do not grow in the gym. The work that you do as you train with weights is merely the "ignition" that sets the wheels of the muscle growth process into motion. Weight loss takes place when your body is resting and eating, as this is when the body is building new muscle tissue.
This is the reason it is important not to over train your muscles. You must always make sure to provide them with sufficient recovery time if you want to see the best results. Your muscles may become smaller and weaker due to overtraining them.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying "don't train your arms", just work in the right amount of direct arm training.

The Effects of a Bicep Injury and Steps to Avoid Them

Getting a bicep injury is extremely disheartening. Acquiring an injury can not only put an end to your bicep training but it can put a stop to all your bodybuilding sessions all together
Of course the degree of the bicep injury will affect a lot of things. But lets say you have a full on biceps injury like a bicep tear or something like that. And your bicep is rendered immobile. That means an end to all your bicep training not to mention all your upper body weight training.
The Effects of a Bicep Injury and Steps to Avoid Them

You may not realize this but your bicep is a key player in almost all bodybuilding movements. The bigger muscle group that depends on the bicep is the back muscles. Almost all back movements depend on the bicep muscle as a secondary muscle. Barbell rows, pull-ups, t-bar rows are all impossible to perform if you have acquired a bicep injury. So you can see that puts an end to your back routines
Your chest will suffer as well. Even though the bicep does not really play a direct role in chest training, the biceps are still used because there are certain points in a chest movement where some pressure falls on the bicep. And so if you have a serious bicep injury your whole arm could collapse under the pressure and that could be very dangerous. This means bicep injury will prevent you from training your chest muscles.
A bicep injury doesn't spare your shoulder workout either. Your shoulders just like chest doesn't really depend on the bicep but again in some movements especially straight arm movements like lateral raise it plays a key role.. Some pressure falls on the bicep when the arms are kept straight and so if you incur a back injury your arm is going to collapse under pressure. So as you can see your whole bodybuilding progress come to a halt when your have an arm injury
So your goal is not to have an injury at all. Having said that how do you avoid it. Well injuries are something you can never really control. But you can take precautions to help reduce the chances of acquiring bicep injuries.
Here are a few ways to prevent injury:
1- Warm up. It is very important to warm up your biceps before engaging in any heavy biceps training. An improper warm up session can lead to a bicep injury. So make sure to take your time and really warm them up before performing a real set
2- Do not over train. I am sure you want to build big biceps but that does not mean you need to over do things. Train hard but do not over due it. Doing so will definitely lead to injury. So don't over train. Working your biceps once a week with all you have is sufficient
3- Stretch after a workout. It may seem like a small advice but stretching your bicep can help decrease the risk of a bicep injury. so make sure to give them a good stretch
These three steps will make sure you prevent an injury in your biceps. These same principles will also make sure you get in a productive arm training workout

Free Weights Or Weight Training Machines - Which Is Better For Building Big, Muscular Arms?

I'm often asked whether machines or free weights are better for building big, muscular arms. Well, as the "Master Gunslinger," I can only respond on the basis of 20-plus years of arm-building experience. And based on that experience, there's no question that free weights are best for building big, muscular arms - especially if you're a beginning bodybuilder.
Free Weights Or Weight Training Machines
Now, I can already here the "Bowflex" crowd crying foul, but if you really want to build the muscle density, strength and symmetry that it takes to have Truly Awesome Arms(TM), you simply can't get there without using free weights. Ever since weight training machines came on the scene, there's been a tendency among beginning bodybuilders to believe that those stretchy cables and shiny handles must be better than clunky old dumbbells for building impressive arms.
This belief comes partly from slick advertising and partly from inexperience. But the bottom line is that, although arm training machines are very useful for adding shape to your biceps, triceps and forearms, these machines are not particularly efficient for building muscle mass or power. Indeed when it comes to adding size and strength to your arms, free weights are clearly better than machines for the following reasons.
First, have you ever noticed that no matter what exercise you may use for comparison, whether its preacher curls, triceps extensions or parallel bar dips, you can always work with more weight on a machine than you can when using free weights? The reason for this discrepancy is simple - the machine assists you in completing these exercises in a way that free weights do not!
When you train your arms with free weights, your biceps, triceps and forearms must provide all of the power required to complete the exercise motion. Your arms must provide the strength required to overcome gravity, balance the weight and force it to curl upward or extend outward. Unlike the machines, free weights don't have any cables, strings, bolts or shiny handles to ease you through your biceps curls or triceps extensions.
Second, while free weights allow you to control the resistance angle and range of motion during a given exercise, machines provide no such freedom of movement. For example, I've done preacher curls with a machine and with free weights and there is absolutely no comparison between these exercises in terms of resistance angle and range of motion. The free weights are far superior, whether using an EZ Curl bar or dumbbells, for building biceps mass and power with preacher curls. The same applies to doing triceps extensions with dumbbells or an EZ Curl bar versus doing them on a triceps extension machine. The free weights put much more resistance on the triceps and allow a greater range of motion to complete this exercise. This increased resistance and range of motion recruits more muscle fibers during each extension of the weight, which in turn forces the triceps to work harder and grow faster than they will with machine extensions.
Again, I'm not saying that arm training machines are completely useless when it comes to workout variety or shaping movements. Machines are also very useful for high repetition workouts or advanced training with descending sets, super sets and giant sets. But for building mass and power in your biceps, triceps and forearms in the early stages of your training, you must focus these efforts on working primarily with free weights. So when trying to decide whether to use machines or free weights in your next arm building workout, even though they don't look as fancy as those shiny machines, you're better off working with the clunky old dumbbells.

Best Bicep Exercises - Blast Your Arms With This Simple Tip

The biceps are the one of the most important muscles in the body. The look of your biceps shows whether your workout plan is really working or not. It is also a factor of masculinity. For the pros, biceps are the parts that are mostly flexed and flaunted in competitions. There are many exercises that can help put the bicep in good shape, but the best bicep exercises get the result faster. Here are a few things to know about the best exercises for your biceps.
Best Bicep Exercises - Blast Your Arms With This Simple Tip
They target the whole upper body
If you want to build your biceps, you don't necessarily have to do exercises that target these muscles directly. In fact, many professionals and coaches will tell you that you don't need to more than two exercises that target the biceps directly. The best bicep exercises target the whole upper body. Those workout plans that put too much pressure on the biceps end up destroying what they intend to build.
They stimulate the muscles
What the biceps need to grow and be in shape is the right stimulation. Only the most effective exercises for your biceps will provide the needed stimulation.
They produce results in two ways
The best bicep exercise should be able to make the biceps grow in size. The shape of biceps is greatly enhanced by their size. It is very difficult to put small biceps in the desired shape. But size without shape is equally bad. For that matter, good bicep exercises should be able to put the muscles in great shape.
Curls are among the best bicep exercises
If you take your time to read a few articles about how to build biceps, you will realize that the exercises that top the list are curls: dumbbell curls and barbell curls. These are two most important biceps exercises that people who are serious about their biceps cannot avoid. Fortunately, these are exercises that are not difficult to do at all.
They don't lead to injury
This is very important. It is easy to damage your muscles if you do the wrong exercise. Damaged muscles can take time to heal. That is why you must avoid the very complicated exercises when looking for good bicep exercises. You should be able to tell which effect is tolerable and which is not. You've heard of no pain no gain, but if the pain is too much, then the exercise is not good.

5 Top Bicep Techniques Usually Underestimated

1. The first technique is by far the newest out of all the techniques and that is the squat curl. A squat curl is more for power than size, but at the very least increasing your strength will allow you to build more mass later on. Start with a normal stance feet shoulder with apart and dumbbells parallel to your body then squat down till the dumbbells touch the ground, then spring back up and curl at the same time. You can go very heavy on this exercise and you should in order to really overload your biceps.
5 Top Bicep Techniques Usually Underestimated
2. The always famous incline curls. I started to do these long ago because of how well they isolate your biceps and really force a great contraction. When starting out, use less of an angle and light weight and work your way up to your normal weight. This exercise I would do at the end of a workout because of the amazing pump it gives you.
3. 21's! Yes the old favorite of 7,7,7 should be used every once in a while to really blast your biceps for major growth. The first 7 reps should be with heavy weight, the second set with light weight, and the final set with very little weight. This is a great mid workout exercise because of the cardio benefits that come along with all the reps.
4. Hammer curls. I like the hammer curl because it is really easy on your wrist and allows you to use slightly heavier weight. I use this exercise second in my workout routine to really work the outside of the bicep. When you first start doing this don't be afraid to go heavy and really push yourself to the limits.
5. Barbell negatives. Barbell negatives are a great start to a bicep workout because they train the negative, which now a days never really gets trained. Start out with a weight you could curl just a few reps, say 3, and use your body weight to lift the weight up to the top of the lift. Once its at the top lower the weight to the start of the lift over the course of 3-10 seconds.
If you are looking to truly make your biceps grow out of control try doing all five different techniques in one workout in any order you like. You will make more growth then you possible imagine!

Top Ten Exercises For Toning the Upper Arms

When training the arms, it is important to take into consideration the anatomy of the upper arms. The upper arm is divided into two muscle groups, the biceps and the triceps. The biceps is the muscle group, which from an anatomical perspective, is the muscle anterior, or to the front of, the upper arm. The triceps is the muscle group in the back of the arm, or posterior anatomically. The term biceps indicates that the muscle has two muscular heads as opposed to the tricep which has three muscular heads. As a result, the triceps makes up the majority of the upper arm. So what are the top ten exercises to tone the upper arms?

Top Ten Exercises For Toning the Upper Arms
TRICEPS 1.) Tricep Pressdown-the tricep pressdown is a great exercise to tone the triceps. Targets most of the tricep with an increased emphasis on the long tricep head.
2.) Lying tricep extensions (e.z. bar)-great for targeting most of the tricep, especially the medial head of the tricep.
3) Dumbell kickbacks-when performed correctly really isolates the triceps well.
4.) Close grip bench press-great exercise to increase overall strength of the tricep.
5.) Overhead tricep extension-really targets the long head, and helps to tone the tricep.
BICEPS
1.) Standing barbell curls-the king of bicep exercises. Great for overall strength and excellent for creating an overload on the biceps.

2.) Incline dumbell curls-great for isolating the biceps and the incline angle allows for an increase in the overload on the biceps.
3.) Concentration curls-excellent isolation exercise that allows for a great controlled contraction of the biceps.
4.) Preacher curls-helps to improve the length and the definition of the bicep.
5.) Hammer curls-works to improve the length of the bicep, and helps strengthen the forearms. Ask your trainer about these great exercises for the upper arms.

Training Your Bicep Muscles With These Top 3 Arm Exercises

In this article you are going to learn some key workouts for your bicep muscles that will help you gain some size and shape. Having Ripping bicep is the goal of every bodybuilder and if you follow my suggestions here you too will soon have a pair for your very own. So without further a due let's get started
Please note that the moves giving here can be performed in any order
Bicep Muscles
The first move that you will be using is a hallmark in working the bicep muscles. It is a key bicep movement that truly attacks every muscle fiber in your bicep. Also it is the move that you can probably carry the most weight with. And everybody knows the more weights you can carry the bigger you will get. This move is none other than the standing barbell curl. Choose a weight that will cause you to fail at the 10 th repetitions. Now load the bar with the desired weight and grip the bar with a shoulder width grip using an underhand grip. Now stand with your knees slightly bent and with the barbell hanging on your thighs. With your elbows tucked to your sides curl the weights till they reach shoulder height. Pause for as second then slowly reverse motion. Do 4 sets of these and make sure you really work hard. You won't grow bigger biceps faster using any other exercise.
The next move is another favorite of bodybuilders and it is the dumbbell curl. The dumbbell curl works the bicep muscles nicely because of the complete range of motion they allow. Here is how to perform it Stand straight with a dumbbell in each hand. Make sure you use a weight that will make your bicep muscles fail at the end of the set. You don't want to go to light with this exercise. So stand straight with knees slightly bent. Your palms should be facing forward and the dumbbells should be handing by your hips. Now curl one hand till you reach full extension and squeeze. When done, simply return the hand to starting position and just before it reaches starting position curl the other hand up and perform it the same way as you did the first arm. Then repeat. Make sure to keep form and work hard.
The final exercise you're going to perform is the one handed dumbbell preacher curl. This move is a finisher and will help put definition in your bicep muscles. It will help you squeeze your biceps perfectly as it is a concentration and isolation move. You always need such moves in your bicep routine to give you a ripped defined look. You don't just want bicep muscles that are big you want them to have some sort of shape to them. So this is what this bicep exercise will deliver to your bicep muscles.
Here is how to perform it: Grab a dumbbell. One that is not too heavy. Of course you don't want it to be light and you do not want to fail at the 6th repetition. So choosing a proper weight is crucial. Set yourself on a preacher bench with your arm holding the dumbbell extended on the bench. Make sure your elbows and shoulders are pinned to the bench. Now curl your biceps and squeeze at the peak, then slowly return to the starting position and repeat. Keep repeating this exercise until you hit failure
These three moves are all you need for bigger bicep muscles. Always make sure you go hard and keep pushing your self and in no time you will have the bicep muscles that you wanted

Biceps Exercises That Correct Weak Points For Bigger Biceps

I believe the main reason why bodybuilders show weak points in their biceps is that they do their biceps exercises incorrectly. One must master proper technique, employing as many shocking principles as possible.
Doing this and training your biceps like this, you will be much less likely to have problems in this area. Although sometimes biceps development lags behind for the simple reason that they are not being trained hard enough, nor are they training the biceps with enough different exercises.
Biceps Exercises That Correct Weak Points
To correct specific weak points in your biceps training, the following exercises should be done:
For Mass: You should do heavy barbell curls and cheat curls. Muscle size comes from lifting heavy weights. If you can curl 60 pounds and you train to the point where you can curl 80 pounds, your biceps are going to grow. Its as simple as that!
For Length and Lower Thickness: Curls that concentrate on the lower third of the range of motion. Strict movements, like preacher curls, one of my favorites or incline or prone curls to stretch the biceps to their maximum.
For Height: concentration curls with a dumbbell or cable. Flex the biceps as hard as possible at the top of the movement and do a series of contractions and relaxation. Keep going until you get a tremendous pump. Include burns in your workout, finishing off by bringing up the weight and fully contracting the biceps, then bringing the weight a third of the way, then back up to another full contraction.
For Outside Biceps: Curls done inward toward the center of the body such as narrow-grip barbell curls or narrow-grip preacher bench curls. Concentration curls that bring the weight into your chest. Hold dumbbells in a hammer position-palm turned toward the inside rather than facing upward. Doing this you will feel how this exercise forces the outside of the biceps to do more of the work.
For Inner Biceps: Standing barbell curls, barbell preacher curls done with a wide grip. Seated or standing dumbbell curls, incline dumbbell curls. Standing alternate dumbbell curls in which your arms are kept wide, outside the line of the shoulder biceps. Doing this you will feel it in your inner biceps and they will grow!
In conclusion, I know how it feels to not see your biceps growing the way you think they should or want them to grow. But if you employ these techniques you can be sure that you will overcome your weak points in your biceps training and be on your way to great looking biceps and arm muscles!

Bigger Biceps In A Month By Training Twice A Week

I believe that bigger biceps can be achieved much faster by training them twice a week in the right manner. Most people train biceps the same way they train legs and chest: once a week with the usual rep and set scheme.
Biceps are different. They are a smaller muscle and you can get away with training them more often. This especially works for hard gainers who have struggled with gaining bicep size for a long while.
Bigger Biceps In A Month By Training Twice A Week
You have to train them correctly though. Don't overtrain them by doing a bunch of sets and reps.
Bicep workout 1 - Choose a mass builder for the bi's. Straight bar curls, dumbell curls, anything but isolation movements like "seated concentration curls" or isolation bicep machines. Now go heavy to failure and only perform 2 sets. Remember, we are going to be hitting bi's again in a few days so there's no need for further sets, and actually, there is NO NEED for further exercises either. That's it. 2 sets of curls and your DONE.
Bicep workout 2 - This should occur 3 or 4 days after workout 1. Now you want to focus more on concentration work. Choose a machine or a seated isolation movement and curl the weight up for a higher rep count that on bicep workout 1 (12-15 reps for workout 2). You can also perform some partial reps to work the peak more at the end of your normal set. Again, only 2 sets should be needed if you go hard enough.
Give this a shot and if you do it right you should notice bigger bicep development after your first month.

Hitting Biceps and Triceps Twice Per Week For Optimal Gains

If you're a competitive bodybuilder, then a pair of killer arms are essential for making your mark in any competition you enter. If you're just a beach bodybuilder, a set of well developed biceps and triceps is very much needed to make acquaintance with the fairer gender in your travels. If you're just a regular guy trying to make a statement at work or anywhere, a pair of powerful arms is a prerequisite for getting noticed. Heck, is there any place when having an amazing set of arms isn't a distinct advantage?
Biceps and Triceps Twice Per Week
If your arms aren't where you want them to be - and whose are? - then you may want to consider giving them a little extra attention. Sure, this is the point where a trainer will yell at you to "train harder" and "push it to the max" and other cheesy catch phrases. If you're a hard working trainer, then you're probably already doing that. It's likely that you're giving your arms everything you have on their training day.
There's your limitation. Your training "day". You are training one day a week for your arms, just like all of your other muscle groups. There is the key to making better gains for this particular muscle group in particular - you need to train them more. You need to 'find' another day to hit your arms.
The easiest split is the common sense split. Chest & Triceps will be trained on Monday. Back & Biceps will be targeted on Tuesday. Wednesday is shoulder day. Thursday you hit your legs. Then Friday is arm day - AGAIN. On Friday, you train arms alone, to their greatest potential, then you drop the weight and you don't tough them again until Monday.
Since you will be hitting the triceps & biceps in a secondary role on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, you will want to avoid going too heavy for them on this training day. Use lower weight, with higher repetition. They won't be worth much in terms of control and balance of weight, since they've been torched with the heavy chest and back work already. Instead you should keep your repetitions in the 8 to 15 range, and use lots of sets.
Once the heavy day rolls around, it's time to get to work. Friday is "Lift heavy arm day" and nothing more. Use a rep range of 5 to 10 repetitions, and let the weight go heavy, as you have all weekend to heal.
Hitting the arms twice a week gives them 104 mini 'growth cycles' to enjoy each year - and the feeling you'll enjoy with bigger arms at the beach, bedroom, or bodybuilding stage will be indescribable!

How to Increase Bicep Size and Build Big Biceps!

I personally love going to the gym. I love to workout but I love to workout on my arms. Any exercise that i think will hit my arms hard is something i love to work with. When it's a day that calls for focusing on my arms i make sure i work hard to increase bicep size. Gaining an inch or so on my biceps is all im thinking about as im working out.
In order to get those guns blazing and bursting out of your sleeves, you must make sure you do certain things consistently to achieve the desired growth. Using the right exercises that stress the biceps hard is important. You don't want to mess around with exercises that are a waste of time. The ideal exercises you should use are the ones that allow you to move the most weight and hits the target muscle hard.
How to Increase Bicep Size and Build Big Biceps!
For example, my personal favorite is an exercise that most people do not like. That exercise is the chin up. Chins ups are very effective at building the biceps as well as other muscles. This movement allows you to pull heavy weight which in this case is your body weight. Your biceps are primary movers of your body weight along with your lats. If you decide to add weight, all you have to do is get a weight chain. By utilizing a weight chain you will be able to add plates on the chain which will hang from your waist. That way you can add weight and progressively get stronger and bigger as time goes on.
Another great exercise to use in your workout are simple barbell curls. Barbell curls allow you to move heavy weight and it places great emphasis on the biceps, especially if you don't cheat. When you cheat you are just letting your form break down and let other muscles come into play on the exercise. Cheating should only be used on the absolute hardest reps of the set.
A very important fact that most people tend to forget is that muscle is not built in the gym, it is broken down. If the muscle is broken down then it must rebuild itself. Muscles rebuild themselves while you are sleeping. Therefore, adequate rest and sleep is very important if you want to are trying to increase bicep size. This rebuilding process also depends heavily on your diet. You should get a lot of vitamins, minerals, and especially protein. Protein is very important in building muscle.
For building big biceps or any other muscle, the formula is always the same. Simply lift hard, eat right, get lots of rest, and be consistent. That's really all there is to it.
When are you going to get started on building the type of arms that command attention? Are you satisfied with your arms? Or could they be more to your liking if you worked just a little bit harder? Look in the mirror right now...can they be better?
If you been having trouble getting results, then you need to change what you're doing. Without change, you will remain the same!

Use Super Set to Amp Up Your Bicep Work Out

If super arms are what you are looking for then you need to try performing supersets with your bicep work outs.
Supersets are a very smart and efficient way to raise the intensity in your biceps training. There is nothing wrong with training biceps with straight sets. Using heavy weights and doing small reps or going light and performing a lot of reps. doing this kind of training especially if you work hard can build you some pretty solid biceps. But you need to shock your biceps every now and then and amp up your bicep work out. How? Throw in some solid super sets and take your bicep workout to the next level. You won't regret it after you see the results
A proper workout should be able to shock your bicep muscles into new growth. Your body will simply not grow if you do not force it to. That's why straight sets get boring and loose their effectiveness fast. It doesn't shock your body enough to get it to grow.
Use Super Set to Amp Up Your Bicep Work Out
But sadly shocking your muscles is not an easy thing to do. Not any work out will do. You really need to stun your muscle to kick off massive growth in your biceps. It has to be something very stressful something that really forces your biceps to its limit only then will you truly grow. Why? Well because your body does something very efficiently and that something is adaptation. It adapts to any bicep work out eventually so that is why every now and then you need to throw a shocker in between your workouts.
There is a solution though. Use a super set in your work out and see your biceps explode into new growth
For those who do not know what a super set is. A super set is performing two consecutive moves back to back with no rest in between them.
Here is a sample bicep workout use it and see the results
Standing barbell curl 3sets 8, 10, 12
Superset
Standing alternating dumbbell curl 3sets 12, 15, 20
Preacher curls 3sets 8, 10, 12
Superset
Incline dumbbell curl 3sets 12, 15, 20
Hammer curls 3sets 8, 10, 12
Superset
Reverse curls 3sets 12, 15, 20
This is a very strong and powerful bicep workout. Choosing the correct weight is crucial. Pick up weights that almost take you to failure. for instance in the first move use a weight that will cause you to fail at the 10 rep. so when you stop at the 8th rep on the first set you will be at the boarder of failure then directly put the weights down and pick up the dumbbells for you next move and rep to prescribed number. Rest for 2 minutes then repeat for 3 sets.
And that is an example of a powerful bicep workout

How to Get Big Biceps - Four Simple Exercises to Build Big Biceps

Quite simply put, I think biceps are a joy to train for just about anyone and I believe the reason for this is because the pump feeling you get from training them is unlike any other muscle. Biceps are not that difficult to train and there is no need to try complicating things for yourself. The following are four basic and very simple bicep exercises you can use to develop big biceps.
How to Get Big Biceps
Barbell Curls
Performing barbell curls is one of the best exercises you can do to develop those bicep muscles. Barbell curls enable you to use a range of grip widths which will all hit different parts of the biceps thus resulting in fuller development. Another good thing about them is that you can gradually add weight to the bar thus causing some degree of overload. If you prefer, you can also use cables to do these curls but they're not quite as effective. However, it's good to throw them into the routine every now and then to mix things up and confuse the muscles a bit.
Dumbbell Curls
Dumbbell curls are an exercise you have to perform if you want to fully develop your biceps because they work the biceps muscles in a unique way. They provide a good mix of an isolation style. Dumbbell curls are pretty easy to understand and perform but a lot of guys tend to struggle with doing them because they are more concerned with trying to use bigger and heavier dumbbells instead of using the appropriate weights and doing them correctly. If you want to get big biceps, pay greater attention to the quality of your exercise instead of the quantity of your weights.
Incline Curls
These are great because they hit the biceps in yet another unique way and isolate the biceps really well. The form of incline curls is easy to put into practice and they will stretch your bicep muscles in a way that no other exercise will. For this reason, it is extremely important to make sure your biceps are properly warmed up before you perform them otherwise you run the risk of straining or pulling your bicep muscles. If you are unlucky enough, you can possibly tear these muscles if you don't warm up; in which case you will end up having to wait a while before you achieve your desired results. Your level of incline with these curls can also be varied so as to ensure fuller bicep development.
Concentration Curls
Concentration curls are a very useful addition to your bicep workout. Due to the fact that they isolate the biceps extremely well, you can really concentrate on using the biceps during the lift without getting as much help from the rest of your body. These curls will give you a really good pump and contraction. The downside of concentration curls is that you won't be able to use as much weight since the exercise is so concentrated on the biceps and the biceps on their own are pretty small muscles compared to certain muscles in other parts of the body.
